# Overview

The $EDU token is the governance token for the Open Campus DAO and is also the native gas token of the EDU Chain. 

$EDU token genesis occurred on BNB Chain as a BEP-20 token on 28 April 2023. It also exists on the Ethereum L1 Blockchain and will also be bridged to EDU Chain when the Mainnet goes live.
